Darryl Draycott
Darryl believes the most rewarding part of travelling and working in the outdoors is the “wow” moments. The moment where everything around you slows down. No matter your upbringing or country of origin, he believes a state of flow is universal and can help connect us. When Darryl’s not on the water whistling and paddling away, he can be found team building, climbing, or mountain biking. He is also a passionate gardener and animal lover who prefers to collect stories over photos. His passion for the outdoors has led him to experience many cultures and environments and he continues to be inspired by the people he meets from around the world. |
Julian Ganton
Life on the water comes naturally to Julian who was born and raised on the Toronto Island. He spent his youth riding island waves and learning it’s unique waterways. While studying abroad in Hawaii, Julian immediately connected with the surf and SUP culture there and became inspired to share his experiences with Toronto. He created Toronto Island SUP in hopes of reconnecting people with nature and showcasing it’s value. He believes a healthy lifestyle doesn’t begin and end on a personal level; it extends to looking out for our communities and respecting our planet. Julian continues to travel all over the world, pulling inspiration from other cultures to share through his practice. |

Based on our conversation about the dynamics of your team, we will cater to your needs and create a space for cooperation, friendly competition, team building and most importantly, fun. You can choose from two basic types of programs: Adventure SUP Race and Beach Olympics.
Beach Olympics (most popular for large groups)
In the Beach Olympics, We use a series of challenges to bring about conversation about teamwork, communication, listening, leadership and a variety of other soft skills. Along with interpersonal skills, this is also a great chance for us to talk about our relationship with the planet, such as water use, plastic pollution and climate change to name a few. We can facilitate larger groups for Beach Olympics and usually take about 3 hours.
Adventure Race
The SUP Adventure Race is better suited to smaller groups and gives guests the opportunity to spend more self guided time on the water with SUPs. Because guests are spending more time on the water, this program is more physically demanding. A short introduction to SUP is given followed by an unguided adventure through the lagoons of the island where you are required to fulfill a series of fun and exhilarating tasks! The Adventure Race takes from 2-3 hours depending on your group.
Both options offer an amazing outdoor experience which we hope brings your group together to overcome challenge and work together. We'd love to talk further about your group's needs. We can assist or make bookings for your group at one of the local restaurants here on Wards Island which offer great views, good food and relaxed island vibes.
Guided SUP Adventure
This event is great for smaller groups that love the water and can all swim. The on-water activities are what we are most known for. We spend 1.5 hours, mostly on the water, going over basic SUP skills, taking in the city skyline views and running through a gauntlet of fun and challenging activities. We will get your team working together, competing and laughing toghether or our job isn't done! Best for groups of 6 - 20 but we can handle up to 30 people at once.
