KIDS SUP & SURF
Our SUP curriculum focuses mainly on water safety, Stand Up Paddleboarding skills & games and environmental awareness.
Kids meet at the Algonquin Bridge on Wards Island. An intro and briefing are done followed by games to warm up. Children are slowly introduced to the water and equipment. As much quality time is spent on the water as safely possible. Kids are given responsibility and power over their environment. Our goal is to help children gain a sense of balance, refine paddling techniques, improve sense of water safety & awareness, and have fun!
Please arrive changed and ready to go. There are public washroom facilities (big brick building) at the entrance to Wards Beach at the corner of Fifth Street and Lakeshore Avenue and also at the Fire Station at 235 Cibola Avenue.
Important: Children must be able to tread water for 30 seconds without PFD. Must sign waiver & release of liability (found below) prior to start of first lesson. If the parent or legal guardian is not accompanying the child, the waiver must be printed, signed and given to the instructor on duty prior to the start of the experience.
You will receive an automatic email once you book outlining your next steps. If you don't receive the email (if it's sent to junk mail), click here for instructions. Please plan your trip. Be prepared to forfeit your experience with no refund if you do not arrive on time.

"Last summer I hired Julian to teach SUP/Surf lessons 3 times a week for an hour during my art camps, which I've run for the past 20 years. It was a huge hit with my campers not to mention their parents!
Julian has a natural rapport with the children. He makes them feel safe in and on the water, making sure sure no one is unhappy, left out or afraid. He has all the qualities of a natural teacher; patience, kindness, relevant knowledge and the capacity to engage the kids with a fun sense of humour and a playful approach while maintaining a watchful eye on them all. I will be hiring Julian again this summer as his classes have enhanced my camp's program. I highly recommend the SUP/Surf classes to any child wholoves the water and wants to learn a new, fun sport. Give it a try, they will love it!" -Tanya Golden |
All scheduled classes run on Thursdays from 4:30-6 pm at the Algonquin Bridge unless otherwise noted. Please catch the 3:45 pm or 4:15 pm boat to make it here on time.
