Our Paddle Canada certified instructors are happy to spend time with you coaching you on the fine details of paddling skills, board anatomy, reading the water and more on a variety of courses including Basic & Advanced Flatwater SUP and SUP Instructor. Once you enter the Paddle Canada Stream, your world is open to so much more. TISUP currently only offers flatwater courses but we've included the full picture in the infographic below to help you better understand these options and where they can lead you.

Basic & Advanced Flatwater Skills Course
Enter the skills stream with Paddle Canda. This is where your journey starts to taking full advantage of SUP in the city. The Paddle Canada Stand Up Paddleboard Program begins with the Basic SUP skills course in calm sheltered conditions and progresses in steps to advanced skills on open water in rougher conditions. Here at TISUP, we currently teach only flatwater courses but the Paddle Canada stream offers much more. Being accredited in the Paddle Canada SUP Skills Stream means that you can See diagram below for the skills stream options. We plan on running skills courses regularly throughout the summer season. These courses can range from 3 (basic) to 6 (advanced) hours. The age limit to participate is 14 years old.
Basic & Advanced Instructor Course
Once you have proven yourself as a proficient paddler by taking part in the skills stream, you may consider teaching SUP. For that you would register for our once or twice annual (spring and fall) SUP Instructor Course. The course usually happens over an action packed 2 or 3 day period, generally on a weekend. Candidates are expected to have SUP skills already so that we can focus on learning how to teach the sport. To sign up for this course, you must first have completed the Basic and Advanced skills course above and be 16 years of age.
Please arrive changed and ready to go. There are public washroom facilities (big brick building) at the entrance to Wards Beach at the corner of Fifth Street and Lakeshore Avenue and also at the Fire Station at 235 Cibola Avenue. As with all TISUP experiences on the water, you must have the ability to tread water and swim short distances to partake.
